Logistics in China has been developing at a fast pace since 1990s. currently, logistics industry is faced with fierce competition while undergoes fundamental changes: national economy is developing in a favorable and fast manner, which drives modern logistics industry to expand and restructure itself; manufacturing and commerce and business enterprises, on one hand separate and outsource logistics business, while on the other hand improves their own logistics performance; cooperation in logistics is strengthened and logistics operation clusters are developing quickly; enterprises have greater difficulty in obtaining resources and capitals compounded with the rising operation costs; ordinary low-end services profits are shrinking while innovative and value-added services shall have more growth opportunities, which shall become the new growth point.
In line with current competition and changes in the logistics industry, logistics enterprises have the urgent demands for constructing and upgrading the current information system in an all-round way and improve their management and capabilities through information platform so as to improve production efficiency and reduce costs. Following the features in logistics industry and taking into consideration economic, security and reliability elements, they should give attention to the following aspects in network system construction and upgrading:
- Diversify technologies of connecting data center with other non-internal business units nodes
- Guarantee and tighten network security and information security by give attention to deploying various firewall systems
- Construct voice system and video system based on IP
- Apply wireless network technology in an all-round way
